3rd Beyond Pressure International Festival of Performance Art, 10

Beyond Pressure is the leading international art festivals in Myanmar. It was held from 2nd Dec to 5th Dec 2010. Two days workshop and Two days performance art event. We are honored to be able to take held Beyond Pressure Performance Art Festival annually; 1st BP (2008), 2nd BP (2009), and 3rd BP (2010). But it is not always easy to do it. We use to face so many obstacles to make happen every year. In the first time, we haven’t had permission for foreigner artists from Censorship Board. In the second year, even though we had permission to make art works in public space; a park, there were not so many Myanmar artist participants. What we faced this year is not getting permission. It was because the time we took held was in December – it is not good time to make it. It was in transition period (after election November 7th to February 7th).
We intended to take held this year Beyond Pressure in a public space, at Karaweik Oo Yin Kabar. But, unfortunately, we didn’t get permission again this time, so we decided to move outside of Yangon city area at Thanlyin. That’s why there were less spectators – just only participant artist ( 13 from local, 6 from foreign countries) and volunteers. But, lacking censorship, artists could make art works freely (some made in naked) and we could make open session.
